“Forms that seem both present and already slipping away.”
(Dé)construire draws on a formal repertoire from Moroccan architecture — in particular, the motifs of traditional doors, which I deliberately rotated, displaced and fragmented. Over these forms are layered elements borrowed from mosaic, added as visual strata that appear and then dissolve into the composition.
Painted in acrylic on burlap, the surface lets fullness and void, the legible and the erased, coexist in a constant play of appearance and disappearance. The work thus oscillates between construction and disintegration, between recognition and disorientation, bringing forth forms that seem both present and already slipping away.
