Les éclats des invisibles

“Memory does not freeze, but recomposes itself otherwise.”

This diptych sets a memory-laden Moroccan textile in dialogue with its deliberately impoverished painted transposition. On the left, the fabric retains the chromatic intensity and ornamental richness of a vernacular heritage. On the right, the same composition appears as a trace, filtered through the withdrawal of colour and the raw materiality of the canvas.

Confronting brilliance and erasure, the work questions what persists when cultural memories are displaced. A figure subtly emerges at the heart of the motif, evoking diasporic subjectivities rendered invisible, yet always present. Les éclats des invisibles offers a silent resistance, in which memory does not freeze, but recomposes itself otherwise.
